Gussy is a narrative video that tells the story of a woman who loses her composure while making gelatin molds. She realizes, in the midst of decorating these desserts, that it is more exhilarating to destroy them than to create them. As the molds become increasingly elaborate and absurd, her actions toward them grow equally chaotic.
By merging this hyper-feminized character inspired by a bygone era with scenes of “hysterical” disarray, the piece examines the cultural and mythological association of destruction with femininity, challenging traditional narratives and expectations of womanhood.
